Description	He has arranged for Ross' manuscript to be lent to him so that he can have it published elsewhere, but it must be returned unaltered to the Royal Society. Ross' work is rather outside the general lines of present mathematical researches and, while two of the referees thought his paper was original and should be published, a third advised against publication. It is an extension of work which was done 50 years previously, but he would like to see the paper published in another periodical.
