DescriptionHis paper on insects in relation to disease will appear in the Reports of the John Hopkins Hospital, the Centralblatt fur Bakeriologie and the Hygiensche Rundshau and that he will send Ross reprints. Suggests Ross visits Germany to stay with him and meet German scientists and adds that there is 'nothing so far which would place the phenonoma of immunity on a mathematical basis'. The notes state that R Koch is trying to seize the credit for malaria research for himself and that he tried to blacken GB Grassi and his work in the eyes of the Italian authorities and scientists and Grassi's protest at an article by Koch in Deutsche Medicinsche Wochenschrift was not published. Grassi's servants were told not to collect mosquitoes in Maccarese as Koch was coming to Rome to study malaria but when Grassi threatened to publicise the affair in the newspapers the ban was rescinded. Grassi has learnt that Koch had a financial interest in a syndicate which wishes to drain the Roman campagnia. It is well known that Koch would do anything for money and that Grassi admired Ross' work.
