Documents relating to the United States government support and funding for HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention programmes including extensively literature over the 'President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief' (PEPFAR) that launched in 2005. Items include notes on meetings with Gareth Thomas, British MP, then member of Department for International Development (DflD) regarding arranging meeting to agree to the 'global architecture on AIDS' in March 2005 and Ambassador Randy Tobias, USG Global AIDS Coordinator, from 22nd January 2004, on PEPFAR developments since its launch. Other documents include memoranda, notes, speeches by Peter Piot and others; online news articles, email correspondence and published reports including: report entitled 'addressing the HIV/AIDS Pandemic: A U.S. Global AIDS Strategy for the Long Term' from the Milbank Memorial Fund; report by the United States General Accounting Office entitled 'Global Health: US AIDS Coordinator Addressing Some Key Challenges to Expanding Treatment, but Others Remain' (July 2004) and an annual report to the United States congress entitled 'Engendering Bold Leadership: The President's Emergency plan for AIDS Relief', published March 2005.
