Description
A photocopied memoranda and a report about an expedition to Kenya and Zaire to collect data and specimens of cases of Kaposi’s sarcoma. The research was conducted by Dr Paul Gigase, Professor of Pathology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp with the report produced by the American agency, National Institutes of Health, with the copy having been owned by Dr Thomas [Tom] Quinn, whom Piot collaborated with in the initial investigation on AIDS in Kinshasa, Uganda, in 1983. File also contains a circular letter received from the Ministerie Van Volksgezondheid en van Het Gezin [translation: Ministry of Health and Family] on AIDS, dated 15 June 1983, providing background history and characteristics of the disease, transmission and guidance to medical personnel who encounter the disease.
