Description
(a) Shows sleeping sickness distribution and fly records up to end of 1914 in the North East of Belgian Congo where the boundary marches with French Congo and Anglo-Egyptian territory (Bahr el Ghazal). Shows 4 foci and some smaller centres, Details furnished for each sleeping sickness area. Nearly 300,000 cases were examined.
Map in French, entitled Carte de l'ouelle montrant la repartition de la maladie du sommeil a la fin de l'annee 1914.
(b) Shows parts of the region shown in Map XII (a) at a later date. The author states that in places on the Lower Uele river where measures against the disease have been continued throughout the war the disease had retrogressed, whereas in other places it had advanced. This is indicated in the red figures. 160,000 were examined and 1,445 found to be infected, some two-thirds in the Gwane region.
