Caption on reverse: On 24 May 1951, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent opened the new Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London. Here, during the ceremony, Dr Andrew Topping, Dean of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, at the microphone, right, is proposing the vote of thanks to the Duchess, who is seated centre. Between them is the Minister of Health, who spoke on the achievements of British workers in tropical medicine.
