Description | Papers relating to research undertaken by the Medical Research Council on HIV and AIDS. There are two parts to the MRC research programme- Directed Programme (launched in 1987) aimed at the production of drugs and vaccines for treatment and prevention, and a Strategic Programme aimed at providing information about the epidemic and which is expected to contribute immediately to the development of public health measures and patient management. These two programmes are organised differently to reflect their differing aims and complementary approach. Papers include research reports, annual reports, press releases, newsletters, memoranda and correspondence.
The MRC also funded sociological research on HIV and AIDS in the UK through the AIDS Behavioural Forum, created in 1987 and papers include reports, newsletters and minutes from the Forum. |
