Sonnabend began working on interferon at the Department of Microbiology at the MRC Research Unit, in Mill Hill under the guidance of Professor Isaacs, one of the discoverers of interferon. Sonnabend worked at the Institute until 1969 before moving to Mt Sinai Institute, New York, United States until 1972. He returned to Mill Hill in 1973 before moving away from interferon research. He however returned to the subject later on to investigate its relationship with HIV and AIDS. |
