Title
UK Parliamentary Debates
Date
1987-1995
Description
Documents relating to parliamentary debates on legislation relating to homosexual equality specifically relating to the Local Government Act 1988, known as 'Clause 28', banning the 'promotion of homosexuality and published material with the intention of promoting homosexuality' and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill that proposed equalising the age of consent for sexual activity at age 16. Project SIGMA was active in lobbying parliamentary members to promote gay rights and tackle sexual discrimination. The majority of the papers are correspondence with MPs and Peers in the House of Lords on these items of legislation along with newsletters, press releases, leaflets, minutes of debates, copies of the legislation and press cuttings. The items were originally filed under 'UK HIV/Sexuality Policy - Excluded data'.
