Description	Contains records of the research of Professor WPT James and other members of The Rowlett Research Institute and Professor P Shetty into the use of body mass index (BMI) data for assessing chronic energy deficiency, 1979-1992. The records comprise of data on heights, weights and BMI, copies of papers on BMI and energy requirements, anthropometric studies from international nutrition institutions and researchers and correspondence with the FAO and nutrition researchers. The records originate from a study by staff at The Rowlett Research Institute for the FAO and WHO, undertaken prior to the International Conference on Nutrition in 1992, to obtain height and weight data and calculate the BMI of people in different countries to compare differences between countries. Many of the records also relate to the subsequent FAO Food and Nutrition Paper 56 'Body mass index - a measure of chronic energy deficiency in adults', by Professor Shetty and Professor James, 1994 and the methods used to assess the world's nutrition situation for the Sixth World Food Survey, 1995. These papers were possibly passed to Professor Shetty by Profesor James for the completion of Shetty's chapter and appendix for the Sixth World Food Survey Report, 1995.
