Title
Letter from Charles William Owen, Medical Advisor to the Maharajah of Patiala to Ross
Date
3/12/1897
Description
Owen says that he has discussed the possibility of asking formally for Ross' services with the Maharana of Dholpur and it has been decided that, as Ross is bound to be put on special duty to study malaria soon, it would be premature to approach the Viceroy. He warns Ross against premature publication which might damage the reputation of the Health Institute and adds that Ross might be following a false trail in the mosquito-malaria theory. He advises Ross to read the literature and to resume his research when he is transferred to a malarious area and when he is given leave to visit WMW Haffkine inconspicuously and he will probably then be given a post at the Health Institute.
