| Description | Collected material gathered as part of the European Commission 'Concerted Action' project, 'Assessing HIV/AIDS Preventive Strategies, in partnership with the University Institute for Social and Preventive Medicine (IUMSP). This collection was donated by Centre for Sexual and Reproductive Health department at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and consists mainly of the work of the principle UK investigator, Kaye Wellings.
The collection comprises of various European HIV/AIDS public education campaign materials, dating 1980s-1990s. The three series include posters on AIDS prevention originating across Europe from both national and non-governmental organisations and include examples from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway and Greece.
The series on ephemera includes diverse material such as badges, t-shirts, condom packets, bum bags, cassette tapes and leaflets from various countries relating to HIV/AIDS and sexual health campaigns, including items from the Europe Against AIDS, Summer Campaign, 1995.
Evaluation and campaign material relates to public health information campaigns carried out throughout Europe in 1980s and 1990s concerning AIDS, and notably includes pamphlets and leaflets from campaigns, campaign evaluation documents and AIDS Strategic Monitor publications and surveys and research collated by various market research companies. The material was collected as part of the AIDS Public Education and Information Exchange Project from Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Italy, Luxemburg, UK, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Norway and Greece. As part of the project, some interviews also appear to have taken place with public health workers in participating countries, and the series also includes some cassette tapes of interviews |
