| Description | Papers relating to research undertaken to review and analysis of British, European and international research on illicit drugs and development of a research strategy. This research was originally funded by ESRC, Home Office, MRC, DHSS and SHHD as part of the Drug Addiction Research Initiative, that ran from 1986-1987 and led to a similar project for the European office of the World Health Organisation on
illicit drugs, research and policy in Europe. Both studies involved surveying drug research and visiting and interviewing various individuals and research centres involved in policy formation. The papers consist mainly of correspondence, questionnaires, interview notes and collected grey literature along with records relating to project administration and planning in the form of minutes, strategy documents and final reports. The European material is for the most part written in English but also contains documents written in other European languages such as German and Italian.
The series also contains papers relating to the EC project 'A-6', a COST Programme that ran from 1993-1997 and was set up as a European cooperation and exchange project for research and researchers in the field of drugs and drug abuse which includes a presentation by Virginia Berridge and conference and workshop information regarding the Programme. |
