GB 0809 Ross - Ross, Col Sir Ronald (1857-1932)
48 - Letters to Ross on malaria
Ref No
GB 0809 Ross/48/40
Level
Item
Title
Letter from George Michael James Giles
Date
1/5/1898
Description
He is glad that Ross has been put on a special duty to investigate malaria and kala-azar although a few months are hardly adequate. Ross should go to Assam in the autumn to see malaria but kala-azar is prevalent all the year round. He must have seen the malaria parasite when he was working on the pneumococcus in 1881 without realising what it was but is very dubious about the mosquito-malaria theory
