Title
Letter from John Tasman Waddell Leslie, Secretary to the Director General, Indian Medical Service, to Ross
Date
02/06/1898
Description
Leslie congratulates Ross on the "apparent" successful outcome of his work. However, he advises that the Director General would like the work confirmed by others before being published, although some copies may be privately printed to establish Ross's priority. The Director General also agrees that malaria work should have priority over kala azar, although Leslie adds that funding from the Indian Government for a commissioned assistant for Ross will not be forthcoming. Ross is also advised to apply officially for an extension of his special duties, and that the Director General would support this.
