Has applied officially to be put on special duty to investigate malaria and is optimistic about the outcome, provided that C Sibthorpe will support him. Suggests that not every species of mosquito carries malaria, outlines his plan of research if put on special duty and if he is not he will apply for three months leave in order to investigate it. Asks Manson to have books on the mosquito sent to him and in a postscript says that he has been working on birds with negative results.
