Title
Copy of a letter from Ross to Herbert James Read, Principal Clerk, Colonial Office
Date
19/9/1910
Description
Since the institute for tropical medicine seems on the point of fruition it has been suggested that half the income from the Sir AL Jones bequest is used to endow chairs for JWW Stephens and R Newstead and, as there is sufficient money to give them a professor's salary, he feels that it is unnecessary to take this money away from the scheme for an institute for tropical medicine and it would also be breaking faith with the Colonial Office. He has finished his book on the Prevention of Malaria, he is preparing a report for the Colonial Office and the Indian government has adopted his idea for a malaria bureau and bulletin
