DescriptionThe Inequalities in Health report, otherwise known as the 'Black Report' was commissioned by David Ennals, Secretary of State, in 1977, to establish the cause of inequalities in health since the formation of the NHS. Dr Douglas Black was asked to head the working group that comprised of Professor Jerry Morris, Professor Peter Townsend and Dr C Smith. The report was not published until 1980. These papers consist of a copy of the report, correspondence between members of the working group, press release, and related articles written by Jerry Morris. Also, includes the 'Independent Inquiry into Inequalities in Health Report' 1998, with an inscription from the report's Chairman, Donald Acheson, to Jerry Morris.
