Information from Life and Work of Sir Patrick Manson by Philip Manson-Bahr and A Alcock (1927): Manson went to Ceylon in 1912 after he retired from the Colonial Office, and spent the summer of 1913 in Ireland, in the autumn he travelled to South Africa and Rhodesia. In 1914 he retired to a property he had acquired on Lough Mask, County Galway, where he had erected a picturesque fishing lodge which he christened 'The Sheiling'. |
